Principle John Luhman is one of the educational standouts in Lane County. He’s actively involved in helping to develop and maintain Clear Lake Elementary’s school garden.
He’s been known to go out into the pouring rain with other students to plant fruit bearing trees so that future students will have the opportunity to reap the rewards of the bounty provided by the trees when they are ready to harvest.
Showing children where their food comes from, how it’s grown, the biology involved in the garden setting has been instrumental in getting some of the children who ask to become a part of maintaining the gardens to eat more healthy.
